I have the honour to inform you that the
Director of Public Works has for some time been in negotiation
with the owners of Kowloon Marine Lots 44 46 and Kowloon
Inland Lots 887 897, regarding a readjustment of these lots
with a view to improving the laying out of the locality, and
I submit for favourable consideration the details of the
scheme, as set forth in the enclosed extract of a letter from
the Director of Public Works and accompanying plans, and re-
commend that it be approved.

The question of re-adjustment arose princi-
pally in consequence of the failure of the sea-wall which had
been constructed to protect the reclamation for the lots
originally sold, and when this failure took place the Director
of Public Works raised the question as he observed that an
improvement could be effected which would be advantageous
both to the Government and to the owners of the lots. The
scheme is set forth so fully in the enclosed letter and ac-
companying plans that it requires no further explanation from
me.

It involves, however, the expenditure on
request
the part of the Goverment of a sum of $34,700 and I have to
